IPAM

IP Address Managers

This looks interesting: NetDot -WN 08-09-22

This info sourced from https://packetpushers.net/virtual-toolbox/ip-address-managers/ review.

[NetBox]

Much love from the Packet Pushers community has been bestowed upon NetBox. The project is driven by Jeremy Stretch, a well-known voice in the networking community. His employer, Digital Ocean, allows him to maintain the project. There’s an older post by Jeremy about NetBox here.

From NetBox’s GitHub page, “NetBox is an IP address management (IPAM) and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tool. Initially conceived by the network engineering team at DigitalOcean, NetBox was developed specifically to address the needs of network and infrastructure engineers. NetBox runs as a web application atop the Django Python framework with a PostgreSQL database.”

phpIPAM

phpIPAM is an open-source web IP address management application (IPAM). Its goal is to provide light, modern and useful IP address management. It is a PHP-based application with a mySQL database backend, using jQuery libraries, AJAX and some HTML5/CSS3 features.

NIPAP

NIPAP is written in Python, which is the current fashion for network engineers. Has lots of enterprise-like features plus offering a CLI for administration.

Solarwinds IP Address Manager

A simple product at a modest price and part of the Solarwinds family. Easy to deploy. Features are focused on SMBs and the mid-market, so set your expectations accordingly.

GestióIP

GestióIP is automated, web-based IPv4/IPv6 address management (IPAM) software. It features powerful network discovery. GestióIP offers search & filter functions for both networks and hosts, permitting expressions that are like what you’d input into an Internet search engine. GestióIP also incorporates an automated VLAN management system.

Infoblox

Infoblox has been around for long time and contains large amounts of crufty features used by a couple of very large customers. The software is widely used by big companies & governments where money is less important than outsourcing product development. I.e., Infoblox is quite pricey.

Recently, Infoblox have been using IPAM as a way to get in the door with related products like their DNS, Firewall, and network automation platform. Be careful with TCO, as maintenance pricing is steep. Licensing is based on a usage model and IPv6 can dramatically increase hidden costs.

TeemIP

Seems to have good features, but it’s hosted on SourceForge. Provenance may be dubious after recent problems there.

BlueCat Networks

BlueCat Networks is a commercial product that targets the enterprise. It wants you to know it’s not just an IPAM provider. BlueCat’s got a full DNS/DHCP/IPAM (DDI) product suite, but IPAM is part of that, so it’s here in the toolbox. The primary product is BlueCat Integrity, which includes Address Manager and DNS/DHCP Server. Address Manager can manage your IP addresses on premises and in the cloud. It’s got a Web-based UI and supports role-based access control so you can limit which administrators can create, delete or make other changes, among many other features.
